The dietary plan of Albino Leopard Gecko

0

The same as almost all other lizard pets, the Albino Leopard Gecko fares surely on a single diet exclusively: insects and mealworms. Albino Leopard geckos really do not nibble on veggies, nor do they want taking in fruits. They feed exclusively on insects. The most typical pick is crickets though it’s also possible to use super-worms and meal-worms.

Just before serving the insects to your own gecko, the insects must first be provided with a nutritious food. Allow your insects no less than twelve hrs to feed on hog mash or in particular formulated mixes coming from pet shops prior to feeding them as live prey to your albino leopard gecko(s).

To be able to feed your insects, pour the mash or mix in a plastic tub and then cover the tub to avoid the insects from getting out. Allow them to eat for half a day and voila – the insects are available to be fed to your pet geckos.  Add a fresh potato to the tub with the insects so they have a source of moisture, too.

Now, you will have to supply mineral supplementation to your albino leopard geckos at a day to day basis.  There are 2 ways in which you can apply this. The first method is called “dusting”.

You place the insects to be fed inside a clear plastic bag and then you follow up with a number of calcium powder (these kinds of supplements can be purchased from pet shops).

Shake the bag a number of times in order to coat the insects completely. After that, carefully put the live insects in the gecko tank and wait for the albino leopard geckos to feed on them. Prevent getting powder into the eyes of the geckos, simply because this could result in infection or it may possibly damage the eyes of the gecko.

The next technique of delivering calcium supplementation is by serving the powder inside a small lid or pan in the gecko cage. The albino leopard gecko is actually capable of identifying how much calcium supplement it needs and will lick only a sufficient amount of the supplement from the pan.

Feed your own leopard geckos once every 2 days.  Supply them 3 to 4 crickets (dusted, or otherwise). You can also give them up to ten mealworms every meal. Whenever leopard geckos shed their skin, they normally eat their old skin.

Albino leopard geckos need relatively little water to survive, because they obtain their moisture requirements coming from the insects they eat.  The following doesn’t signify that they do not require water.  As a matter of fact, it is vital that you make fresh water available at all instances in the tank.

A nice water pan is shallow enough for insects and leopard geckos to climb onto without drowning. It should also be relatively stable, to ensure that geckos will not be able to tip over the pan.  Keep in mind, leopard geckos climb over gecko tank decorations, pans, lids and nearly everything  else which their feet can get a hold of.

Keep the water pristine and do not include anything else to the water, not even vitamins. Vitamin and mineral supplementation have to be supplied separately at all times.

This definitely is applicable to each of the leopard gecko types.
