Among the earliest trivia concerning the history of the Siamese cats is the cat engravings in Russia during the late 1700’s. The carvings bear much resemblance to the look of the Siamese cat. Furthermore, more images of this breed were found in an old text known as the Cat-Book Poems. 

Siamese Origins In England 

The coherence about Siamese cats increased during the year 1884 in which a general from the British Consul brought to the UK  a couple of Siamese cats from Siam. The two cats, as the legend goes were gifts to this general from the King of Siam. 

When the pair of cats provided three kittens, it completely attracted the eyes of the Englishmen causing the further progression of the Siamese cat history. Actually, this was also the start of the ever increasing popularity of this breed of cats. 

Two Main Varieties of Siamese Cats 

Today in the modern generation, Siamese cats can be found in 2 different kinds of breeds namely: the standard and the new kind of breed. The original breed projects the old qualities which originated from Siam. On the other hand, the new breed has a lengthier and slim body. Moreover, the head also became smaller but the legs are longer. 

Although there are still many people eager to possess a traditional Siamese cat, the new breed is commonly more reputable now. The primary signs of a traditional breed are the kinks on their tails as well as the cross-eyed characteristic. Nevertheless, these things are not visible in the new breed of Siamese cat. 

Since Siamese cats these days have so many colors and their lengths are not often congruent, this particular breed without a doubt has a variety of cat characteristics. To mention a few similarities, it is their blue eyes and also the points found on their extremities.
